Tips For Home Missionaries

Being a home missionary is not an easy task.  Often, home missionaries are new to pastoring and therefore, besides the special challenges that come with starting a new church, there are often situations that can challenge and sometimes frustrate home missionaries.  The most common frustrations that home missionaries deal with are loneliness and discouragement.

Here in Ohio, we have been very blessed to have men and women with the desire to reach out to others, knowing that the task will not be easy.  The biggest help someone can give a home missionary is to pray for them and support them with words of encouragement.

There are some resources available to help you.  On the updated UPCI Home Missions website, there is a webpage specifically for home missionaries.  Here, you will find enrichment and renewal retreats and vacations and church planting resources.

The Pioneer Evangelism Handbook for Home Missionaries will prove to be especially encouraging and helpful as you face many things and make important decisions.  In this booklet, you will find ideas for your church, your family and even your finances.  Written by some of UPCI's most knowledgeable ministers, you will be encouraged and challenged as you read.

Also, please check out the Home Missions Live Webpage where you will hear leadership training, guest speakers, and praise reports.  You will be blessed and encouraged as you hear special speaking from various ministers and pastors including UPCI Superintendent David Bernard and UPCI Home Mission Director Carlton Coon.

To be up to date on UPCI Home Missions events, be sure and visit the webpage on the UPCI Home Missions site.  Here you will find conferences, seminars, meetings and offering dates.  Also, for ideas for Bible studies, sermons, special sermons, etc., be sure to visit the Instant Knowledge webpage just for Home Missionaries!
